Iranian companies have not still permitted to export chicken and red meat, as well as eggs to Russia, said Hossein Safaei, head of Iranian rural cooperatives organization.

However, some Iranian companies have received the permission to export fish, shrimps, and dairies to Russia, ISNA news agency quoted Safaei as saying on August 1.

Other food products can be exported to Russia without any problem, he said.

Mehdi Sanaei, Iran's ambassador in Moscow, said in November 2014 that the Russian government has created a golden opportunity for Iranian exporters of dairy, meat and aquatic products.

Sanaei noted that Iranian exporters should take advantage of the opportunity, as Russia annually imports $40 billion worth of fruits, vegetables and dairy products.

He said an outstanding part of dairy products, fruits and vegetables needed by Russia used to be imported from the US, Europe, Australia and Canada, but under the Western sanctions, the Russian government has announced its interest in increasing imports from Iran.

Annual trade between Iran and Russia was once around $4 billion, but it has dropped to about $1 billion.
