Due to the falling temperatures, hotels in some regions of Iran are offering discounts, which in some cases reach 70 percent, according to Mohammad-Ali Farrokh, head of an Iranian hotels association.

Iranian news agency ISNA quoted Farrokh as saying Dec. 10 that prices in Tehran's hotels and motels are higher on first days of the week than on last days.

"Rooms in the capital's hotels are free during holidays and on weekends. People prefer to go to other tourism regions [on those days]," he said.

"At the end of the week, Tehran's hotels and motels offer discounts ranging from 20 percent to 60 percent," noted Farrokh.

He also said that prices in hotels and motels aren't expected to grow.

Local news agency Mehr has reported that Iran has 1,100 hotels - 130 of them have four and five stars.

Iran plans to triple the number of hotels in the country by 2025.

Experts believe that by 2025, the number of the tourists arriving in Iran will increase from five million to 20 million.
