Iran’s crude steel output increases by 9%

Over 12.319 million tons of crude steel were produced in Iran during the first eight months of current Iranian fiscal year (March 20- Nov. 21, 2016).

The figure is 9 percent more compared to the same months of preceding year, Iran's industry, mines and trade ministry's official SHATA news portal reported.

Iranian companies produced 1.572 million tons of crude steel during the eighth Iranian calendar month of Aban (Oct. 21-Nov. 21, 2016), indicating a rise by 19 percent year-on-year.

About 22.175 million tons of iron ore also produced in the country in the 8-month period, which is 9 percent more compared to the same period of preceding year.

The Islamic Republic’s steel output throughout 2015 is estimated to have hit 16.11 million tons. Iran also produced 16.331 million tons of crude steel in 2014.

The country’s crude steel production reached 15.421 million tons in 2013, which was 6.6 percent more than its preceding year.

Iran’s output of crude steel would reach 55 million tons by 2025.
