Iran unveils car output details

Over 1.088 million cars were produced in Iran in the first 10 months of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 20, 2016-Jan. 20, 2017).

The figure indicates a rise by 39 percent as compared to the same months of the preceding year, the Iranian Industry, Mine and Trade Ministry’s SHATA news website reported.

Passenger cars (including sedans and SUVs) accounted for 1.012 million of the output with a production growth rate of 41.2 percent, while pick-up output grew by 13.3 percent to hit 63,862.

The country’s bus output increased by 39.9 percent to stand at 838 vehicles.

The Iranian car manufacturers also produced 634 minibuses (a 24.3 percent increase) and 10,213 trucks (a 21.5 percent increase) during the 10-month period.

The country’s car output stood at 137,851 during the tenth calendar month (Dec. 20-Jan. 20), 37.5 percent more year-on-year.

Over 130,046 passenger cars were produced during the one-month period, a 42.7 percent increase compared to the same month of preceding year.

Also 6,041 pick-ups (a 27.5 percent fall), 1,532 trucks (a 115.2 percent increase), 134 buses (a 482.6 percent increase) and 98 minibuses (a 326 percent increase) were produced during the tenth calendar month.

Iran’s car output reached 982,337 units in 2015, according to the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA). The figure indicated a 9.9-percent fall year-on-year.

Iran was the world’s 20th biggest car manufacturer by end of 2015, while the country stood at the 18th place in the first half of 2015.

The 2014 production statistics by the OICA indicates that Iran’s car production increased by 46.7 percent and stood at 1.1 million cars.
