Minerals, construction materials transport via Iran’s ports surges

The Islamic Republic of Iran exported 460,688 tons of metal products through 20 ports across the country over the last Iranian calendar month ending Nov. 22.

The country loaded and unloaded 712,315 tons of metal products at its ports in the one-month period, indicating a 0.9 percent fall year-on-year, according to the latest report released by Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization.

In the meantime, the country imported 251,629 tons of metal products through the organization’s ports.

The organization loaded and unloaded 1.786 million tons of minerals and construction materials in the one-month period, which is 36.4 percent less than the volume in the same month of the preceding year.

About 1.55 million tons of minerals and construction materials were exported through the country’s ports.

The report also says that 47,022 tons of machinery, vehicles and spare parts were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports, 3.3 percent more year-on-year.

Iran’s machinery, vehicles and spare parts imports via the ports accounted to 40,966 tons in the one-month period.

Iranian ports saw loading and unloading of a total of 9.071 million tons of various goods and commodities, including food and metal products between Oct. 22 to Nov. 22, 14.9 percent less year-on-year.

In Total, some 99 million tons of various goods were loaded/unloaded at Iranian ports during the current fiscal year.

The volume is 3.1 percent more than the loaded/unloaded products in the same period of preceding year (March 20-Sept. 22, 2016).
