Iran’s wheat exports soar dramatically

Iran saw a considerable surge in the volume of wheat output over the current fiscal year (starting March 21).

According to the latest report by the agriculture ministry of Iran, the country’s exports of wheat surged by 1,351 percent over the first nine months of the current year.

Some 276,410 tons of wheat worth of $70.78 million was exported in the mentioned period.

The value of wheat exports in this period increased by 758 percent.

In the meantime, the country imported 60,720 tons of wheat valued at $17.83 million.

According to the report, the volume and value of the imports of wheat in the mentioned period has respectively dropped by 95.57 percent and 94.91 percent.

The trade balance of wheat over the first nine months of the current year stood at $52.95 million.
