Trend:

Pakistan opposes the US sanctions on Iran and will continue to trade with Iran, spokesman of the Pakistani Foreign Ministry Mohammad Faisal said at a press conference in Islamabad.

According to him, the US officials put pressure on several countries to cut economic and trade relations with Iran.

"Pakistan will expand trade relations with Iran within its own interests," Faisal said.

Faisal said that Pakistan is against any economic embargo against any country by superpowers.

"We believe these actions have a negative impact not only on the country, but on the whole region as well. Restrictions created by sanctions have a negative impact on trade turnover and economic opportunities among countries," Faisal added.

The Pakistani government is looking for ways to use new opportunities to expand relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran within its own interests, he said.
