Given the geographical position of Iran’s Chabahar Port and the great potential of this port for countries like India and Afghanistan, it seems that India agreed with the US not to impose sanctions on this port, Director General for agreements and market development at Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran Mohammad Ali Asl Saidipour said in an interview with Fars News Agency.

He said that the Chabahar Port was created to assist Iran’s and the world’s maritime transport beyond the Persian Gulf.

“India and Afghanistan are the countries mostly interested in the port,” he said. “The Chabahar Port is the main way for Indian products to reach Afghanistan, CIS countries and Europe.”

On the other hand, Afghanistan Relief Organization was established in the United Nations, he noted. This organization seeks for the uninterrupted activity of the Chabahar Port to ensure Afghanistan’s needs, he added.

Besides, domestic and foreign companies are interested in investing in this port, he said.
