Iran's gas production from South Pars surpasses that of Qatar

The Managing Director of South Pars Oil and Gas Company Mohammad Moshkinfam has announced that by inauguration of new phases, Iran's production from the giant gas field would increase to 360 cubic meters gas per day, which would be more than Qatar's.

South Pars Gas Field (the North dome in Qatari side) is the world's largest gas field which is located on the joint border line between Iran and Qatar.

Speaking during the official inauguration ceremony of phases 13,22,23 and 24 of South Pars gas field, he said that the mentioned phases have been constructed thanks to a $11-billion investment, with production capacity of 112 million cubic meters gas, Trend reports citing ILNA.

Moshkinfam said the total investment in all South Pars phases was $77 billion and with $10 billion more the first development process would be complete.

"The process of completing operation of these four phases involved 76 wells, construction of 18 offshore platforms, installing 380 kilometers pipelines and construction of two refineries," he added.

Speaking of the major products of the inaugurated four phases, the official named "producing 100 million cubic meters of sweet gas for injecting into general network, daily production of 150,000 barrels of gas condensate to export from the Persian Gulf Star Refinery and petrochemical units, 2 million tons of ethane gas for petrochemical purposes and 2 million tons of LPG for exports."
