Baku, Azerbaijan, Jan.21
Trend:
Iran's accession to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is quite real if there will be progress in the talks on the country's nuclear program, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
He made the remarks at a press conference on Jan.21.
Lavrov said that Iran has requested the SCO membership, RIA Novosti reported.
"Given that according to the SCO criteria for membership, the applicants shouldn't be under UN sanctions, I believe, it is quite real, especially, if there will be progress on the settlement of Iran's nuclear issue," said Lavrov.
Russia is chairing SCO in 2015.
