Iran's Deputy foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said that his country supports a political compromise deal which secures the interests of the Yemeni people and all political parties.
"TheYemeni government and people will not allow the Takfiri terrorists to distract the process of political compromise by violence and extremism," he said. "Iran backs an independent, unified and safe Yemen in which all parties are committed to a popular political compromise."
Houthi protesters and the government are expected to sign a ceasefire deal today.Yemeni cities have been the scene of protests over the past month.
Protesters are demanding the formation of a new government.
