Appointment of Iranian president's nominee approved by Iranian parliament

The Iranian parliament has voted in favor of Ali Reza Razm Hosseini, nominated by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani for the post of Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade, Trend reports citing Iranian Parliament’s official website.

According to the report, 264 MPs of the Iranian parliament attended the meeting to investigate the authority of Razm Hosseini.

Thus, out of 264 MPs in the Iranian parliament, 175 voted in favor, 9 abstained and 80 voted against.

On May 11, 2020, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani dismissed Reza Rahmani from the post of Minister of Industry, Mine, and Trade and appointed Hossein Modarres Khiabani as acting minister.

On August 12, a meeting of the Iranian parliament was held, and the parliament did not vote in favor of Modarres Khiabani.

According to Iran's constitution, the president appoints acting of ministries, while the parliament approves the incumbent via a vote of confidence.
