Iran's peace and friendship flotilla left this northern port for Russia on Sunday, IRNA reported.
This is the second trip that this flotilla is taking to Russia. In the past Russian flotillas have travelled to the Iranian port of Anzali three times aiming to deepen friendly sea interaction between the two countries as well as spreading peace and friendship in the Caspian Sea.
The voyage of the Iranian flotilla is taking place after the trip of its Russian counterpart to Anzali.
Captain Ahmad Reza Baqeri said it is predicted that the voyage of the Iranian peace and friendship flotilla will last for two weeks.
The flotilla will berth at Baku port after Russia.
The captain pointed out that the Iranian flotilla is aimed at strengthening communications in order to preserve the security in the Caspian Sea.
