( Prime-News ) - About 5 000 inmates will be pardoned and amnestied on the basis of the initiative of the President of Georgia.
Levan Bezhashvili, Chairman of Legal Issues Committee, voiced the aforementioned initiative of the President of Georgia at the session of the Legal Issues Committee, where the amendments to the law were discussed.
According to MP. Bezhashvili, the law will be spread on about 1 200 inmates convicted of 50 various types of criminal offence and on about 1 000 people being in the state of preliminary investigation.
Levan Bezhashvili admitted that the law would be spread on about 3 000 inmates and the Commission of Pardoning would pardon about more than 1 200 prisoners.
