( RIA Novosti) - Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili will visit the United States on March 19 on an invitation from President George W.Bush, the White House announced on Friday.
The White House said Georgia is a key ally in the war on terror, in particular in Iraq, as well as a valuable partner in an important region. It said the two presidents will discuss global security, Georgia's plans to join NATO, and efforts to peacefully settle conflicts with Georgia's self-proclaimed republics.
This will be Saakashvili's first official visit to the U.S. during his second presidential term.
