Manana Mandjgaladze, the press secretary of the Georgian president, believes the Georgian-Russian talks on Russia's joining the WTO are a success as a result of Georgian diplomacy.
"Georgia, after difficult negotiations, backed the Swiss side's compromise offer based upon the position the Georgian government," Mandjgaladze told a traditional briefing on Tuesday.
"We can say this is a serious success for Georgian diplomacy confirming that Georgia will now for the first time receive full information about the turnover of goods at the Russian-Georgian border," she said.
Only technical matters currently need to be resolved, she said.
"Despite hesitations, Russia approved the offer, and only technical and procedural matters now need to be settled," Mandjgaladze said.
