Traffic on Georgian Military Road partially restored

Georgia, Tbilisi, April 16 / Trend N.Kirtzkhalia /

The Georgian Military Road connecting Georgia and Russia, is open for the passage of cars.

The road was closed on April 15 because of the collapse near the village of Kazbegi on the Georgian territory. Passage of transit vehicles was prohibited in the Vladikavkaz - Lars town section until further notice.

The department of highways of Georgia told Trend that now traffic on the Georgian Military Road has been restored, but some restrictions for heavy trucks and buses with a capacity of more than 30 passengers are still in effect.

Because of this, for three days drivers and passengers of trucks and buses remain on the outskirts of Kazbegi and spend the night in their cars. In general, these are cars from Armenia, going through Georgia to Russia.
