Former Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Nika Dzimtseishvili, who is also the husband of former Deputy Minister of Justice Tina Burdzhaliani, was sentenced to six years and nine months in prison.

Tbilisi City Court has completed the hearing of a criminal case against former Deputy Interior Minister, now a fugitive Nikoloz Dzimtseishvili, on Wednesday. He was found guilty of abuse of power, particularly, the embezzlement of coupons for 54,000 liters of diesel belonging to the Lukoil Georgia oil company, the court told Trend.

In an open trial, the defendant's guilt was confirmed by the testimony of witnesses, Lukoil Georgia's written documentation, documents from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and case papers.

The court, guided by the laws of Georgia and the amnesty law of 28 December 2012, sentenced Nikoloz Dzimtseishvili to six years and nine months in prison. He is also deprived of the right to occupy leadership positions for a two-year and three-months term.
