Finance Minister discusses Georgia’s sovereign rating with FitchRatings experts

Georgian Finance Minister Nodar Khaduri met with members of a FitchRatings international rating agency mission, analysts Charles Seville and Vincent Forest on Thursday.

According to the Finance Ministry, the sides discussed issues concerning Georgia's sovereign rating, its future fiscal policy in the medium term, the state budget for 2013-2014, tax policy, social and infrastructure projects and planned spending and issues of external and domestic debt.

Nodar Khaduri updated the mission with the on-going processes in the economy, micro-economic situation of Georgia, reforms conducted during the year, the main directions of the budget for the next year, as well as the directions envisaged by the draft strategy document on social and economic development. Its main purpose is to promote economic growth and competitiveness.

The minister reiterated that it is important for the Georgian government to improve the country's rating. The initiated reforms will be continued.

Khaduri expressed the hope that the company is sure to take into account the country's positive processes in its ranking.

The mission will meet with representatives of the private and the public sector as part of a two-day visit.
