A memorandum on covering the whole territory of Georgia with open access fiber-optic communication has been executed on the initiative of the country's Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.
The document was executed by the country's Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Education, Agency of Innovation and Technology, Georgian Railway, Georgian Post, State Property Management Agency and etc.
The memorandum envisages the creation of additional conditions for creating fiber-optic communication in each village with the population of over 200 people.
Taking into account Georgia's complicated geographical relief, laying of fiber-optic backbones will require considerable amount of investments, Georgia's First Deputy Economy Minister Dmitry Kumsishvili said.
