The Syrian government released 553 detainees on Saturday from Syrian jails, on the occasion of the Muslims' Eid al-Adha, also known as the Greater Bairam, DPA reported.
"On the occasion of (Eid) al-Adha, 553 people arrested during the events in Syria and did not have blood on their hands, are released," the official SANA news agency reported.
