A militant believed to be a member of Jihad movement was killed on Sunday by a missile lunched from an Israeli plane, local security source told Xinhua.

The man was hit when he was riding a motorbike in Rafah area, 15 kilometers from the Egypt-Israel border.

The killed Bedouin man Ibrahim Nasser was arrested several days ago by the Egyptian army and was released later.

The security source added that Nasser was involved in killing some Israeli tourists on the border and he was listed as terrorist in Israel.

The source noted that it was due to the failure of Egyptian army to make a deal with the militants to stop violence in Sinai that Israeli side decided to intervene.

16 Egyptian soldiers were killed by militants in Rafah area on Aug.5. Egyptian army then lunched a successive campaign in Sinai to purchase those responsible for the incident.

On Saturday, Egypt decided to reopen the Rafah crossing from both sides with previous mechanism, which was disrupted by the military action in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula recently.
