Afghanistan, Kabul, 23 October / Trend corr. A.Hakimi/ Afghan FM Rangin Dadfar Spanta is visiting Pakistan.

Spanta met with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari on 22 October to discuss the opportunities to expand the regional cooperation between the two countries.

Afghan FM also met with the opposition of the Pakistani Government and the Speaker of the Parliament.

The best way to provide peace in the region is to expand the regional cooperation and to reduce the terrorism threat, Spanta said.

Pakistani President agreed that terrorism threatens the stability of the two states and that establishment of peace requires joint struggle against rebels.

Previously Afghan officials had accused the Pakistani Government of not being able to stop the rebels passing the borders of Pakistan.

The two nations agreed to develop a long-term plan of cooperation in the financial and energy sectors, as well as for expansion of railway routes between the two countries.
