Ukrainian Security Service Denies Its Employee’s Involvement into Arm Trade

Ukraine, Kiev, 15 November / Trend corr. Z.Novosvitskiy / The Ukrainian Security Service (USS) denies MP Svyatoslav Oliynik's (Yuliya Timoshenko Bloc) data on its employee's involvement into arm trade.

MP Oliynik's data, which states involvement of the USS's employee into arm trade, is not correct information, the Service said, UNIAN reported.

Oliynik, MP from the Yuliya Timoshenko Bloc (YTB), appealed to the Ukrainian Prosecutor General with the request to investigate action on issue of the Security Service official's possible involvement and his leadership in illegal arm trade.

The USS officials began to investigate this case interactively with the police, when an employee of the Service was arrested.

As a result, cartridges, which the USS official was going to give to his friend, are for hunting arms. "The police did not reveal facts on sale of cartridges," the USS said. As a result of operations it was revealed that labeling of these cartridges are not the same with those, which are used by special subdivision and other subdivisions of the USS anti-terror centre.

At present materials of the action was passed to the Kirovograd Region Military Prosecutor's Office for further investigations. Moreover, the USS assists the prosecutor bodies in unbiased investigation of the suit. In accordance with decision of investigator, the USS official has given written undertaking on not leaving the country by end of investigations.

"While fulfillment of my authorities, I revealed that armed criminal gangs exist and act in Ukraine owing to spontaneous protectionism and assistance of the Ukrainian Security Service's officials and its leadership, particularly," the MP wrote in his appeal to the Prosecutor General that

According to Oliynik, employees of the subdivision of the Interior Ministry's State Department for struggle with organized crime revealed illegal arm and ammunition supply of criminal gangs in great quantity in Dnepropetrov region and this is an example for the abovementioned claim. Such provision is realized through training ground of the USS special anti-terror subdivision Alfa, as well as it has been organized and regulated ingeniously by leadership of Poltava polygon regiment.
