Putin to hold conference on reconstruction of airports

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin will on Wednesday hold a conference on reconstruction of airports in the country, RIA Novosti reported.

The conference will take place in the town of Kavkazskiye Mineralnye Vody in south Russia. Discussions will touch upon Mineralnye Vody airport as well as other airports across Russia - in Murmansk, Gelendzhik, Vladivostok and Sheremetyevo Airport near Moscow.

Russia has 328 civil airports. About half of them need urgent reconstruction, in particular due to insufficient financing.

To expand the investment potential of airports, the Russian authorities hand the airports' stock and property to constituent members of the Russian Federation - Russian regions.

As of today, Moscow owns Vnukovo Airport, St. Petersburg owns Pulkovo Airport, and the Krasnoyarsk Territory owns Yemelyanovo and Igarka airports.
