Zorica Tomic has been relieved of her post as head of Serbia's Commission for Cooperation with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Belgrade media reported Saturday.
The ambassador was at the centre of a scandal earlier this year when it was revealed the state was paying 7,000 euros (9,140 dollars) a month rent for her 240-square-meter apartment in Paris, DPA reported.
The news did not go down well in Serbia, which is struggling to cope with an economic crisis.
Presidential adviser Trivo Indjic will take Tomic's place.
