Bayern Munich beat Schalke in German Supercup
Bayern Munich claimed their third victory in the German Supercup Saturday with a 2-0 win over Schalke 04 in Augsburg, dpa reported.
World Cup Golden Boot winner Thomas Mueller put the German league and cup winners ahead on 75 minutes with Miroslav Klose making it 2-0 eight minutes from time.
Raul lined out for Schalke while fellow Spaniard Sergio Escudero made his debut, coming on as a second-half substitute. Bayern coach Louis van Gaal included Germany World Cup stars Philipp Lahm and Bastian Schweinsteiger alongside Mueller and Klose.
The German Supercup event was making a return after a 14-year absence. Bayern also claimed the trophy in 1987 and 1990.
