An explosion occurred near a subway station in downtown Beijing Thursday afternoon, injuring a foreign passerby, witnesses said, Xinhua reported.
The accident happened at 3:10 p.m. Thursday beside a newspaper stand near the Dongzhimen subway station in Dongcheng District.
Witnesses said a foreigner was injured and had been rushed to a nearby hospital.
Police have sealed off the scene.
