15 killed in train accident in northern India
At least 15 people were killed and two critically injured when a train rammed into their jeep at an unmanned railway crossing Tuesday in northern India, police said, dpa reported.
The accident took place between Madu and Hathras stations, 178 kilometres south-east of New Delhi, superintendent of police Chandra Prakash said.
All of the victims, 13 men and two women from nearby villages, were travelling in a sports utility vehicle.
"The driver of the vehicle did not see the train until it was almost on them and was unable to get it off the track on time," Prakash said
