The US has always stood for the political settlement of the situation in Ukraine, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Central Asia Daniel Rosenblum said during a press-conference Feb. 10.
"The US has always stood for a diplomatic solution, as well as political settlement of this terrible conflict," Rosenblum said.
He was answering journalists' questions regarding sending of peacekeepers to eastern Ukraine, covered by armed clashes.
"The US supports the monitoring, conducted by the OSCE mission in the conflict zone," he said.
He said that a final decision about providing Ukraine's authorities with arms has not been made.
Last Monday, US President Barack Obama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel held a press conference where President Obama spoke about the possibility of the arms supply to Ukraine.
"The US president and his national security team are considering all variants," he said.
