PKK militants staged an armed attack on a group of security forces near the village of Ayvalik in Beytussebap town of the Turkish province of Sirnak, World Bulletin quoted Anadolu Agency as reporting.

Three Turkish troops have been killed in an armed attack in southeastern Turkey.

Operations are under way in the region to capture militants.

Listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union, the banned Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) took up arms in 1984 to create an ethnic homeland in southeastern Turkey. Some 40,000 people have been killed in conflicts involving the PKK in the past over two decades.
