The deputies of the Turkish main opposition Republican People's Party submitted a statement to the Parliament demanding to deprive them of deputy immunity, CNN Turk TV channel said today.

Their step expresses support for the party leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu. On Tuesday he refused from his immunity as a protest against the demand of the prosecutor's office to deprive him of his immunity for the attempt to intervene in the investigation of the case on an attempted military coup.

Kilicdaroglu is the leader of the main opposition, Republican People's Party. The party gained 25.94 percent of votes in the parliamentary elections in Turkey in June 2011 and took 135 seats in parliament.

According to the assumptions of the pro-governmental newspaper "Taraf," the Turkish Armed Forces prepared a plan "Sledgehammer" to overthrow the government in 2010.

According to this plan, the country's armed forces were to overthrow the government after the chaos that was to take place in the country post-bombings near Istanbul mosques, Fatih Camisi and Bayazid, an attack on a military museum, and the destruction of several Turkish fighters. According to the newspaper, the plan, created in 2002-2003, was signed by former General of the Turkish Armed Forces Cetin Dogan. After the coup, mass arrests were to begin.

The newspaper reported that the authors of the document are high-ranking military suspected of involvement in the "Ergenekon" plan, which aims to overthrow the government. About 200 politicians, journalists, lawyers, teachers, military and policemen were also involved in this case.
