Turkey still interested in EU membership
Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept.26
By Rufiz Hafizoglu – Trend:
Accession to the European Union is still a priority for Turkey, TRT Haber TV channel quoted the country’s Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus as saying Sept.26.
Kurtulmus pointed out that Turkey also speaks for starting a new stage in the negotiation process between the two sides.
Turkey is closely following the visa cancellation process between Ankara and the EU, he added.
The European Commission proposed the EU to cancel the visa regime with Turkey May 4.
Previously, Ankara cancelled the visa regime for the citizens of all the 28 EU countries on May 3, but the visa-free travel will be possible after the EU cancels the visa regime for Turkish citizens.
