Turkey will establish its first factory for production of vaccines, the Turkish media reported May 30.
The factory will be built in 2019. With the start of production of vaccines at the new factory, Turkey will be able to save one billion Turkish liras annually; this amount is now spent on the import of various vaccines.
In mid-May this year, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for the first time stated the necessity of establishing a factory for production of vaccines.
The factory's construction has been included in the list of 140 mega projects, which the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) has promised to realize in Turkey in case of victory in parliamentary and presidential elections, to take place on June 24.
