The volume of cargo transportation by air in Turkey dropped by 10.9 percent for 2019 compared to preceding year, amounting to 3.4 million tons, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on Jan. 11.
In 2019, 819,540 tons of cargo were transported by domestic flights, and 2.6 million tons by external ones.
In this period, the volume of cargo by domestic flights dropped by 7.5 percent compared with the same period of 2018, and freight traffic by external flights decreased by 12.7 percent compared to the same period of 2018, the ministry said.
The freight traffic at the three main airports of Turkey (Sabiha Gokcen, Ankara Esenboga Airport and Antalya Airport) was 911,353 tons during 2019.
