Georgia decreases imports of Turkish-made steel

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 9

The exports of steel from Turkey to Georgia fell by 14.4 percent from January through February 2021 compared to the same period of 2020, settling at $16.6 million, the Turkish Trade Ministry told Trend.

In February 2021, the value of steel exports from Turkey to Georgia dropped by 15.4 percent compared to February 2020 and totaled $8.98 million.

Turkey’s steel exports to global markets during the first 2 months of 2021 increased by 6.3 percent compared to the same period of 2020, exceeding $2.26 billion.

At the same time, steel exports from Turkey accounted for 8.1 percent of the country's total exports during this period.

Turkey exported steel worth over $1.21 billion to foreign markets in February 2021, which is 21.5 percent more compared to February 2020.

Steel exports in January 2021 accounted for 8.3 percent of the country's total exports.

Over the past 12 months (from February 2020 to February 2021), Turkey has exported steel worth over $12.7 billion.
