A group of representatives of the Azerbaijani ‘Silk Road’ Public Union for Promotion of Development of Entrepreneurship, Indonesia’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Husnan Bey Fananie and a number of the embassy employees are on a visit to Indonesia, the embassy in Baku told Trend Oct. 17.

The delegation visited Jakarta to attend the Trade Expo Indonesia 2016.

Azerbaijani entrepreneurs are also holding meetings in various cities of Indonesia in order to develop business cooperation between the two sides.

The parties have already discussed the opportunities to cancel visa regime for Indonesian tourists, as well as launching direct Baku-Jakarta flights.

More than one million Indonesians visit the holy city of Mecca for Hajj pilgrimage each year, said the Indonesian embassy’s press service, adding that those tourists can be sent to Azerbaijan after Hajj, if the visa regime for Indonesian tourists is cancelled.

Other types of cooperation and expansion of import and export between Azerbaijan and Indonesia are also being discussed during the visit.

Trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $101.73 million in January-August 2016, according to Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee.
