Czech MPs to observe election in Azerbaijan

The delegation of the Czech Parliament will visit Azerbaijan to observe the parliamentary election, said the message of the Azerbaijani Embassy in the Czech Republic issued Oct.24.

The message said that the Azerbaijani Embassy in the Czech Republic held a reception in honor of the members of the Azerbaijan-Czech Republic parliamentary friendship group.

The reception was attended by the chairman of the Chamber of Deputies (the lower chamber of the Czech Parliament), chairman of the Czech-Azerbaijani Interparliamentary Friendship Group Jan Hamacek and other MPs.

Azerbaijani Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the Czech Republic Farid Shafiyev and Hamacek delivered speeches at the event. In his speech, the ambassador said that the relations between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic are being developed in various fields.

"The political and economic ties are being strengthened," the ambassador said.

The diplomat said that a group of the Czech MPs will arrive in Baku to observe the parliamentary election in Azerbaijan to be held on November 1.

In his turn, Hamacek said that the Czech Republic attaches great importance to the cooperation with Azerbaijan and expressed hope for even greater expansion of this cooperation.

The parliamentary election will be held in Azerbaijan November 1. Some 769 candidates for MPs will participate there.
