Armenian military 79 times violated ceasefire on various parts of contact line of Azerbaijani and Armenian troops over the past 24 hours.
Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry said Oct. 10 that the Azerbaijani positions were fired at by Armenians stationed near the Tapgaragoyunlu and Gulustan villages of Goranboy district, the Chilaburt and Goyarkh villages of Tartar district, the Sarijali, Kangarli, Shikhlar, Yusifjanli and Marzili villages of Agdam district, the Kuropatkino village of Khojavand district, the Horadiz, Ashagi Seyidahmadli, Ashagi Veyselli and Gorgan villages of Fizuli district, and the Mehdili village of Jabrail district.
Armenians also opened fire from nameless heights in the Goranboy, Khojavand, Fuzuli and Jabrail districts.
In view of the operating situation, the Azerbaijani armed forces inflicted 81 blows on enemy positions.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.
The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the US are currently holding peace negotiations. Armenia has not yet implemented the UN Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
