The Azerbaijani foreign ministry considers the US State Department's politicization of each individual case in the country, being a specific offense, as the interference in the country's internal affairs.
The US Department of State pretends not to see the incidents in the region, which cause discontent, including severe beating and arrests of peaceful demonstrators, spokesman for the Azerbaijani foreign ministry Hikmet Hajiyev told Trend.
Hajiyev was commenting on the US Department of State's statement on Azerbaijan.
"This is another obvious example of the double standards of the so-called deep concern aimed at interfering in the internal affairs of Azerbaijan," he said.
"The rule of law has been fully ensured in democratic Azerbaijan," Hajiyev said. "No one is pursued for political views and activity. To express such preconceived views towards the criminal cases without a court verdict is nothing but inappropriate and unsuccessful intervention in the lawsuit."
"It is strange that the mass violation of human rights of more than one million Azerbaijani refugees and internally displaced persons, deprived of their fundamental rights as a result of Armenia's aggression, is never included in the list of the so-called deep concern of the US Department of State," he said.
"Presenting the US as a "global patron" of human rights amid the police violence covering the whole country, not considering the obligations arising from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and systematic cases of racial differences, long arrests without trial and investigation, tortures in Guantanamo, secret tapping operations held at the global level within the country and even against the closest allies, the murders without investigation, committed by the drones by violating the sovereignty of other countries and many other similar problems causes just irony," he said.
