President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev visited the Baku steel company LLC to inaugurate “Oksigen” plant there October 13.

Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Baku Steel Company LLC Rasim Mammadov informed the president about the work done there. He said that the reconstruction work at the plant was carried out in 2012-2013. The company's administrative building was renovated to modern standards.

A bust to Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev was installed in the lobby of the building. There are also photo stands reflecting the national leader`s visit to the company, and President Ilham Aliyev`s visits various plants.

The company was put in operation with the participation of national leader Heydar Aliyev in 2001.

The president was informed about the three new projects which are currently being implemented there.

Baku steel company LLC is carrying out these projects jointly with Italian "Danieli" company.

President Aliyev then inaugurated "Oksigen" plant. The plant is supplied with the equipment made by "Air Liquide", one of the leading world suppliers of services to various industries.

The production capacity of the facility, which was constructed by local companies, is 5,000 cubic metres per hour. The oxygen to be produced there has a very high purity for its chemical composition. Apart from fully ensuring the increasing production capacity of Baku steel company, it is used as the chemical energy in Electric Arc Furnaces, which enables minimization of energy costs.

President Aliyev pressed the button to launch the plant.

Baku steel company is one of the top-taxpayers in the country's non-oil sector.

The company's annual steelmaking capacity reached 1,100,000 tons from 250,000 tons.
