В"Armenia is ready to agree upon temporary cessation of the delivery of Armenian goods through the Gars-Akhalkalaki-Gumri railway route, in case it is commissioned, Turkish daily Milliyet reports quoting the Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian. It was part of proposals by Oskanian to Turkey and Azerbaijan.

“Armenia voiced his readiness to take such step with regard to prevent the construction of the Gars-Akhalkalaki-Tbilisi-Baku route,” Milliyet quotes.

“If Azerbaijan and Turkey fair of strengthening of the Armenian economy upon opening of the railway route Gars-Gumri-Tbilisi, we could agree upon temporary ban on use of the route by the Armenian companies,” Oskanian underlined.

On 30 August the Armenian media published a statement by Oskanian, which underlined that Georgia and Azerbaijan did not have amoral right for construction of a railway route beyond Armenia.

According to Oskanian, investing in the construction of the route was of no sense, as the said countries are already connected with the railway communications, which runs via the territory of Armenia: the Gars (Turkey) вЂ" Gumri (Armenia) вЂ" Tbilisi (Georgia).

"The existing highway does not function due to Turkey’s wrong policy,” Armenian Minister said.

"The time will come when regional conflicts will be resolved, borders will be unblocked and then we will have two parallel railways in the region, one of which will become absolutely senseless. Which one? That which does not exist now. We will fight against the implementation of the project by all means and show its senselessness to the international community,” Oskanian underscored.

However, no details taken by Armenia in this direction were disclosed.
