Azerbaijan gains broad opportunities in designing UNESCO resolutions

“Azerbaijan was elected a member of the Executive Board of UNESCO,” Tahir Tagizade, the spokesman for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, told Trend.

A relevant decision was taken in the 33rd session of UNESCO’s General Assembly held in Paris on 31 October.

Tagizade attributed the fact as granting of Azerbaijan with broad opportunities in participation in the development of UNESCO resolution.

According to Tagizade, the Executive Board of UNESCO includes members from 58 member-states, elected for the term of 4 years. The Board functions as an executive body and it is in charge of preparing the work of general conference, the high governing body of UNESCO. The Board is responsible for the implementation of resolutions taken at the general conferences, he underlined.
