The Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) will apply to the Tariff Council to determine the cost of doctoral education, Academy President Mahmud Karimov told journalists on Tuesday.
He said the cost of doctoral education is low compared to other countries. At the moment, the cost for foreigners is about $2,000.
If the Tariff Council approves this amount, then the cost of doctoral education will remain at the same level, Karimov said.
"The academy does not provide paid doctoral education. But I can not say whether it will be paid after this. I personally do not agree with it. It is wrong to be a scientist for money," Karimov said.
Now work is underway to improve the social situation of young
scientists, Karimov said.
