Professor Peter Kopacek, the founder and director of Master program on engineering management at Vienna University of Technology visited BHOS.

In the course of two days Prof. Kopacek made presentations on 'Contemporary Directions in Automation' and 'The End of Mechanical Management' for BHOS students.

BHOS rector Elmar Gasimov welcomed the guest and informed him about the foundation of BHOS, activities and education programs available at the higher school.

BHOS rector also briefed on BHOS new campus, its technical basis and vast infrastructure opportunities. Touching upon international relations of BHOS Elmar Gasimov emphasized cooperation existing between BHOS and a number of universities and lectures conducted by the representatives of the said universities as well as international companies.

Elmar Gasimov underlined that in future BHOS would introduce master and doctorate programmes in frames of lifelong learning concept.

Professor Peter Kopacek thanked BHOS management and while talking about the university he represented he briefed on his work experience and activities he had ever been engaged with. Mentioning automation of industry and processes including robotics as the rapidly developing fields Professor Kopacek said that his presentations would cover mainly industry and mobile robots as well as humanoid robots.

He also assured the audience on inclusion such topics as process automation, production automation, robots, social aspects and ethic directions, the end of mechanical management, recycling, precious metals and reutilization issue in his presentations. Peter Kopacek was also convinced that his presentations would turn to be beneficial for BHOS students.

Kopacek finished his doctorate studies with distinction in 1971. Between 1986 and 1990 he worked as professor for "Systems Engineering and Automation" at University of Linz, Austria. From 1990 - 2008 he headed the Institute for 'Handling Devices and Robotics', Vienna and he was the president of the Austrian Society for Systems Engineering and Automation (SAT).

Since March 1985, Kopacek worked as vice president and general secretary of IFAC/Austria and of ÖGART (Austrian Society for Automation and Robotics) the Austrian IFAC. He received three Honorary Doctor titles. He is also corresponding member of the Saxonian Academy of Sciences and the German Academy of Technical Sciences. He is a member of IFAC, IFR, IEEE and a winner of 'Engelberger' award from the Industrial American Robotics Society. Professor Peter Kopacek is the author of six books and more than 300 articles.
