By Fatih Karimov - Trend:

Iran needs 27 trillion rials (about $800 million based on free market exchange rate of 34,000 rials) to complete semi-finished transport projects.

Iranian Deputy Transport and Urban Development Minister Ali Nourzad said the national budget bill for the next fiscal year (will begin on March 21, 2015) has envisaged that 27 trillion rials to be allocated for implementing 116 plans and 600 infrastructure projects, Iran's transport ministry website reported on Dec. 14.

He added that building 185 kilometers of tunnel and 95 kilometers of bridge is underway across the country.

Building main roads, railways, and freeways cost about $700,000, $1.7 million, and $3 million per kilometer, respectively, he noted.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Baqer Nobakht, Iranian vice president for planning and strategic supervision said on June 16 that the Iranian administration needs $125 billion to complete development plans which are underway nationwide.

He added that the administration has focused on completing semi-finished development projects and will not start new ones.

The administration has not initiated any project since President Hassan Rouhani took office in August, he further said.

We will allocate the lion's share of national development budget to finish the projects which are complete by over 80 percent, he added.
