Uzbek joint-stock company increases cement production in 2014

Akhangarancement JSC (Akhangaran city, Tashkent region), the second largest cement producer in Uzbekistan, increased cement production by 5 percent up to 1.7 million metric tons in 2014 compared to 2013, the company's management told Trend Jan. 29.

Clinker production increased by 6.2 percent to 1.24 million metric tons in 2014.

In general, the enterprise supplied 1.718 million metric tons (a 6.5 percent growth) to consumers in 2014.

Akhangarancement JSC was commissioned in 1961. The production capacity of the enterprise amounts to approximately 1.8 million metric tons of cement via wet processes.

Russian Eurocement Group got a 75.5 percent share of Akhangarancement on the secondary market in 2006. Currently, Eurocement Group's share in the authorized capital of joint stock company is 83.92 percent. Other shareholders are physical entities.

Akhangarancement increased the cement production by six percent up to 1.62 million metric tons, clinker - by 13 percent (up to 1.167 million metric tons) in 2013 compared to 2012.

Currently, six cement plants operate in Uzbekistan with a total capacity of about seven million metric tons. The largest plants are: Kyzylkumcement JSC (3.08 million metric tons), Akhangarancement JSC (1.8 million metric tons) and Kuvasaycement JSC (920,000 metric tons).

About 72 percent of the total volume of goods production in Uzbekistan's construction industry is in the cement industry.
