Baku, Azerbaijan, Apr. 11
By Rufiz Hafizoglu - Trend:
Turkey joined the countries founding the China-led Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), Anadolu Agency reported Apr. 11.
Thus, the number of AIIB founding countries reached 38.
Earlier, the deputy prime minister of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmus, during a visit to Japan, said Ankara will not join the AIIB shareholders.
On March 17, France, Germany and Italy decided to follow UK's suit and join the China-led Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank.
The decision was taken after the UK announced its intention to join the founding members of the AIIB.
AIIB is considered a potential challenger to the World Bank (WB), which is headquartered in Washington, US.
