Azerbaijan triples investments in Turkey’s economy

The volume of direct Azerbaijani investments in Turkey in Jan.-March 2015 has tripled, compared to the same period of 2014 and stood at $277 million, Turkey's Central Bank said in its report on Q1 of 2015.

This figure was equal to $88 million in Jan.-March 2014.

Azerbaijan invested $73 million in Turkey's economy in January, $30 million - February and $174 million in March, said the report.

The largest volume of investments made by Azerbaijan in Turkey's economy since 2002 was recorded in 2011 ($1.27 billion).

With a 9.89 percent share, Azerbaijan ranked second among Asian countries for the volume of investments in Turkey in Q1 of 2015.

Malaysia, which invested $317 million in this country's economy took the lead with 11.3-percent share, while China ranked third by investing $157 million (5.6 percent).

Azerbaijan ranks fourth among all the countries which have made investments in Turkey's economy. Russia ranks first with $737 million (26.3 percent), followed by the Netherlands - $441 million (15.75 percent) and Malaysia - $317 million (11.3 percent). The UK ranks fifth with $179 million (6.39 percent).

The total volume of direct foreign investments in Turkey during the reporting period stood at 2.8 billion, or 9.1 percent less than in the same period of 2014.
