The Azerbaijani government repaid $57 million foreign arrears to some international finance organizations in January-June 2005 with $47.4 million of major arrears and $9.6
million of percents for credits, the Foreign Economic Affairs Department of the Finance Ministry told Trend.
$40.6 million was repaid by state enterprises such as AZAL, Azerenerji, Azerkimya, Azersu, $4 million from the public budget. $12.4 million of the currency reserves of the National Bank of Azerbaijan was spent on repaying of credits taken at the International Currency Fund.
The government plans to repay $118 million foreign arrears in 2005 with $91 million of major arrears and $27 million of percents for credits.
Azerbaijan repaid $ 134.2 million foreign arrears in 2004 with $116.3 million of major arrears and $17.9 million of percents for credits.
